Last year in June, I met with Julien Naar, a French TV producer, On Wallie and Janine Nigrini’s farm in the Karoo. Julien was busy filming a documentary on leopards for the French TV (http://www.france5.fr/emissions/echappees-belles) and decided to include some shots of the Karoo Predator Project and the conflict between farmers and predators.
The documentary was released on Saturday night on the French TV and was a great success. Since then, I have been receiving emails and messages from French farmers wanting to know more about the predation in the Karoo and the farmers’ solutions. In the French Alps, grey wolves have been slowly recolonizing ground and are sometimes in conflict with the sheep farmers too.
A big thank you to Julien Naar for deciding to add some images of our work in the Karoo to his excellent documentary, and thus creating a great opportunity to be in touch with other farmers in France. Thank you to Wallie and Janine Nigrini for playing the game and welcoming the crew and myself on their farm.
