The Karoo Predator Project at the ICCB

Last week, Marine Drouilly, our carnivore researcher, took part in the 27th International Congress for Conservation Biology – 4th European Congress for Conservation Biology in Montpellier, France.

Opening of the Congress by Dr. Anne Larigauderie, first Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

It was a great opportunity to meet with other researchers working on similar topics (human-wildlife conflicts, carnivores) and to attend very interesting talks.

Excellent talk given by Prof. Steven Redpath on conservation conflicts.

Marine presented the first results of her camera-trapping surveys on a poster and answered many questions. It was also a great opportunity to meet Dr. Jan Kamler, previously working on jackals in South Africa and now on dholes in Asia, and discuss about mesopredator ecology. To have a look at the research Dr. Kamler was conducting on canids in South Africa, follow this link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iRVGGkjC50
